The Clier harvester for lavander and other aromatic plants have been designed to harvest a great variety of stem plants which grow into a clump and which are cultivated in rows. To obtain the best harvest, the distance between the rows must be 1.6m to 1.9m, and the distance between plants 0.3m to 0.5m. The essential specificity is the system which lifts the stems. Several patents protect this system. It consists in tightening the plant between two arms, lifting the stems on the ground itself and maintaining them in a vertical position up to the cutting part which cuts off the stems at the desired and selected height. According to the type of plants to be harvested (long or short stem) and to the final destination of the product (distillation, herb trade, pharmacy), three types of Clier harvester have been developped
